    Fraps guide

    Im just going to cover the basics of the program "Fraps". This program allows you to record not just Wow, but most games. You can download the trial or full version at FRAPS show fps, record video game movies, screen capture software. The trial version water marks the website on the top of the video and limits recording to 30 seconds. The full version dosn't have these disadvantages.

    This is the first tab you will see when opening Fraps. It has several basic options.

    Close fraps;
    Click this to shut down the program totaly. All recordings will be ended by closing the program!
    Hide Fraps;
    This option hides fraps but keeps the program running. If its cluttering your desktop, press this and you can re-open it in the icon tab in the bottom right of your screen (For windows).
    Starting options;
    -"Start fraps minimized": When you open Fraps the program will be hidden.
    -"fraps window always ontop": this means when you have fraps it will appear over all other applications which arn't screen dominant.
    -"Run Fraps when Windows starts": When you turn on your PC Fraps will start automaticly
    Offical help;
    This link will take you to the offical help page on fraps.com

    Hotkeys;
    The only key you really need to "Overlay Display Hotkey" this allows to change the Overlay location option without going directly to the application.
    Advanced options;
    This are advanced options, I would just set them to how I have them. They are advanced options after all!
    Offical help;
    Get linked to the offical help page
    Overlay Corner;
    selecting one of the empty slots and when in an appication which can be recorded a number will appear in the area you donated. The number repr the current fps (frames per second) in your image. The more frames the better quality and less jumpy your video will be. Here is an example of where the overlay can be placed. http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q...laycorners.gif The Overlay looks like this;

    When the number is yellow you Arn't recording, when it is red it will be recording!

    Save location;
    This is where you will find your movie clip once recorded. The "Change" button allows you to edit the location of where the film will be placed with a simple browse interface. The "View" will open the area in a new window.
    Recording hotkey;
    This is the key selected by you which will start and stop recording. I suggest using a key you never use in game, such as Pause/Break (Near scroll lock and print screen)
    Sound info;
    Basic infomation about your sound defaults etc.
    Video quality options;
    The full and half size options are simple to use, but i suggest always using full size. The Fps tabs change the maximum FPS you can record. The bottom option allows you to enter a custom amount.
    Fraps tips!
    If when you start recording your PC lags, its nothing to worry about! I suggest recording anything just before an important event to avoid lag and jump film.
    If your lagging with fraps running try changing your graphic quality ingame or close some addons.
    Fraps can work on wow max or in a window, so you dont need to change your preferances!
