eMule Plus - The eye candy eMule compatible client
Before loading the program, configure your firewall to allow TCP access to port 4662 and UDP access to port 4672. Load eMule Plus and click on Preferences, then Connection and change the TCP and UDP ports to match those above if they don't already. Additionally, go into Server (under Connection in the Preferences menu) and make sure "Autoconnect on startup", "Autoconnect to servers in static list only" and "Reconnect on loss" are all ticked.
Below that, you should see four boxes split into by two columns (Capacities and Limits) and two rows (Download and Upload). I always leave the Download capacity and limit at 100kb/s and the upload capacity and limit at 10kb/s.
Below these boxes you will see "Limitless download (enabled when upload >=10" which will obviously increase your download capacity but at the risk of preventing you from accessing anything on the internet which could already be a problem from the next step.
Queue Size can remain at 3,000 but feel free to reduce it.
Max. Connections greatly affects the performance of your internet connection. I have a 2MB line (could've been upgraded to 4MB by now but I don't know) and have this set as "500" In 5 Sec "20". This can, when downloading lots of files (or having them search for sources) take up the entire bandwidth I have available making internet browsing an utter nightmare. Because of the nature of my router, performance doesn't always return to normal after quitting the program either, but you simply need to reduce the number of maximum connections and files you're trying to search for sources for simultaneously.
Once finished in the Preferences screen, click OK and go into the Servers window. Two servers - DonkeyServer No1 and DonkeyServer No2 with IP addresses 62.241.53.2:4242 and 62.241.53.16:4242 should be set to high priority and are the servers you ALWAYS want to connect to. The others claim to have lots of files but can give poor search results.
If the status window at the bottom of this screen tells you that you have a LowID, the program can't connect properly to your computer through the TCP and UDP ports. This occasionally happens if you quit the program and load it up again within a couple of minutes. It also happens if the firewall isn't allowing proper access to the ports. If instead you get the "server is full" message, keep trying as a free spot becomes available every few seconds.
Obviously to search for a file you click on the Search icon and conduct your search. Best to sort the searches by the number of sources available but note that the number in brackets shows how many of the sources have the complete file. If this is set to 0, nobody presently online has the full file and you may never manage to download it. Even now, I've been trying to download something for six months and have only gotten to 55%. Occasionally a user has it but I can't connect to them. Files don't start downloading until you navigate your way through the user's queue - obviously.
AND WTF IS UP WITH ME NOT BEING ABLE TO SEPERATE LINES WITHOUT USING "< br >"?!?!
