Alright, one of the things I got for christmas was an oldschool laptop. The IBM Thinkpad A21m.
I'm having problems getting the ethernet controller to work, but after searching for solutions to that, it seems that thinkpads (even ones as old as the one I have) are great for Linux.
I've been wanting to try out linux for quite a while, but didn't really want to reformat my main computer.
So now I have a crappy computer I can mess around with as much as I want because I have the win 98 disk/serial with it, so if worse comes to worse, I just reformat.
Anyhow, the main question I'm looking for is what Linux, in your opinion, is the best? I know there are multiple versions of Linux, seeing as its freeware. One that I have heard alot about is Red Hat. Are there any others that are decent?
The laptop is only going to be for messing around with linux and maybe word processing for now. So any help/hints/suggestions would be welcome.
