    Mental Health Help Thread

    This thread is for people who need help or just need to discuss mental issues, please do not come into this thread to make fun of others or make jokes. Fake posts are not welcome and derogatory language to any type of people with any issues will not be tolerated. I know this is the back room but please have some decency.


    Since Bippy started a fitness thread for the physical body I thought it would be a good idea to have one for people who are struggling mentally as well. I have a lot of experience with mental disorders, both personally and within my family and friends, and I have found it really helps to talk to it about someone. So if you already know you have some mental illness and would just like to talk about it or you are just having problems but haven't been diagnosed with anything feel free to post here for help. People in this thread and myself will be entirely non-judgemental and offer advice to the best of our ability but if you are seriously in turmoil please tell your family and seek help from a psychiatrist.

    My personal situation is posted as the first reply because I cannot ask others to be open if I myself am not.

    The most important thing is that this thread is a safe and supportive place to discuss if you need mental help. Remember that if you are really struggling see a psychiatrist I cannot stress this enough, while the people in this thread are willing to support and help you we are not professionals!

    So please post if you are having any issues, you don't have to include what you are dealing with just the symptoms if you want, be as open or private as you like. No one will judge you. If you need coping methods for different things others in this thread and myself can likely recommend some.

    To make this thread more open I will list the mental disorders/illnesses I have been diagnosed with and write a little about my current and past conditions to help others who want to do the same. This is very personal and normally I would not write about on a public forum but I can't ask for others to be open or ask for help if I myself do not.

    Professionally Diagnosed:
    • Autism
    • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
    • Major Depression Disorder
    • Social Anxiety Disorder
    • General Anxiety Disorder
    • Panic Disorder
    • Various Phobias
    • Apraxia
    • Dyslexia
    • Dysgraphia
    • Agoraphobia
    • Some other temporary conditions or things that can fall under the above
    • IQ very high (not to brag just to point out the correlation between higher IQs and mental health problems and to describe my condition better)


    WARNING IF YOU HAVE OCD THERE MAY BE TRIGGERS BELOW
    I have suffered nervous breakdowns that resulted in me almost dropping out of school but have managed to graduate high school and am now going to a well regarded private college. I have had multiple suicide attempts and struggled with depression throughout my entire life and am struggling with it greatly right now. I seem to lack concentration and start to cry for no reason so I sleep to escape this. My OCD mainly persists in the form of intrusive thoughts, thoughts that come into my mind that do not seem like my own and I have no intention of carrying out but overwhelm my mind completely. These thoughts consist of things such as self harm, suicide, hurting others, and generally doing things that are the complete opposite of who I am. Due to my panic disorder I suffer panic attacks nearly daily at the moment, especially in social situations. Due to my autism, apraxia, and social anxiety I find it very hard to communicate with others and feel very alienated from the rest of society. I do have some friends but making new ones is pretty difficult. I am highly above average academically and this has allowed me to complete high school with very good grades despite missing 20% of classes on good years and, in my senior year, 50% of the classes whole months at a time.

    To deal with my problems I have been having weekly visits to a psychiatrist/therapist and am on 300mg of zoloft, 50mg of seroquel (for panic attacks and to sleep), and 1-2mg of clonazepam (to use during panic attacks).

    Anyway that's a little about my mental condition, it's not as bad as I make it out to be but it is pretty rough. If you have any questions or it will help for you to ask me about things before talking about yourself feel free to.
