Issues with eBay and pending Paypal funds. Would love some help!

So here's the dilemma:

I saw that Hearthstone keys were going for a lot of money. So I wanted to get in on some of the action.

Looked into selling it here, saw some prices dropping which made me go with the eBay approach to selling my item. Being in a rush / being greedy I decided to just post my auction with a high buyout and a low bid. (Set buyout to 300$, first bid to 50$)

Everything went well, on the last few seconds of the auction someone hit the Buy it now for 300$. So I proceeded with my usual methods, contacted the seller and worked out a means of trying to get the code to him without screwing myself.

I've sold codes online before but never beta codes. I quite honestly didn't know it's not allowed till after I had already sold it which is my fault entirely.

The money is set to pending in my Paypal, I've seen that before so it's nothing new to me. What happen that's new to me was that my auction got removed by eBay, but this happen AFTER I sent the tracking number to them and the seller. This effectively removes any seller protection I might have had.

I don't know what to do, basically this code will be useless as soon as it reaches the seller.

Here's some info on the buyer:

His eBay account is new, created the day the auction was ending. He had good communication, didn't lag with it at all. Seemed nice, not rude at all in the few messages I had with him.

I want to believe in and have faith that people will be good, it's how I am but at the same time I don't' want to get burned.

I have an idea on what to do which is just refund his currently pending Paypal money and use the code myself. Of course I'd contact him and tell him first before doing this because I'm not a jerk like that.

Here is where I need help though. Is there possibly any way I can come to a compromise with him and make this work? Like can I warn him of what I am about to do and offer him a deal that would be beneficial to us both? He seems like a gamer that's trying to get into the game and enjoy himself and I'm all for that, but he might just be an ass trying to get a free code and burn me at the same time. I'm so lost on what to do and really don't have anyone to talk to for a good idea currently.

I've seen my mistakes with my first sale and I'm learning from them, I'd just like to fix this without hurting anyone's feelings.

Uhm this happened to me as well. Once your listing gets removed like that, buyer gets an E-mail that they should appeal the transaction if they have been scammed or something. If they don't, however, you'll get your money. There's this verification period (something like ~20 days) before the money appears on your paypal. I've had the exact same situation, my transfer is still pending, I'll let you know if I get the money in 6 days (says 28th).

I did, however, simply pm the guy his code, and couple of hours later he left feedback "thank you" so I don't think there are any grounds for the appeal. One way or another, I'll post here once I get or I don't get my cash to let you know =)

Alright, after 21 days, I got my PayPal funds with 0 issues whatsoever =) So yeah, you should be good
