Hey guys,
My name is Travis Shendaruk. After months of intensive game development my buddy and gaming aficionado Bart Bartchelot and I have managed to create a fun and fully functional Rougelike card game. Lester and the Fiends features RPG elements and a cheeky horror/punk overtone. Before we launch our Kickstarter (November 1st) we are looking to start up a chat and get some like-minded folks involved. We have included a few examples of our cards. But before we look at the shiny swag... let's give you a super quick overview of the game!
In this first set we meet Lester (the GM) and his "fiends." Lester is a demon who has taken over a camp somewhere in a creepy forest and overrun the place with undead boy scouts, suicidal cultists and drug addicts. Now, a rag-tag band of teenage misfits (the players) with the help of their antisocial powers and some bad ass swag, such as steroids, hedge clippers, pipe bombs, and iPods, must escape the camp or be torn apart by Lester's fiends.
Our goal was to create a randomly-generated, fast-paced, strategy CCG that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to play. After eight months of play-testing and tweaking the response we are getting is overwhelming. Our test groups (everyone we can get to play it) love the punk rock aesthetic, and get totally absorbed in the in-depth game play and white knuckle inducing, dice rolling fun - which, at the core, is what we're after.
We'd love a chance to chat about how it functions as a Roguelike and some of its more innovative features. If you're interested in learning more, please feel free to contact us at any time.
