laptop vs dekstop

I am looking to buy another laptop / desktop for gaming this is my 6th laptop i whet through burned all my previous laptops due to overclocking and overheating the motherboard one of them even caught on fire... I guess laptop wasn't a way to go? I am looking to spend at least $400 for a gaming desktop any suggestion what i should look for that can run wow without dropping my fps to 2 all the time during elegon fights!!!! thanks

Yeah but to be fair, you can't buy a decent laptop for gaming without spending loads of cash while you could buy a beast Desktop for that money.
Chaud, the news poster from MMO-champion works every month to build a "Setup of the month" and there are 4 different "level/budget" types of Desktop builds he makes...

Mixing and matching several components would also work just as well, just scroll down a bit to see the table of the builds.
Make sure that you consult a friend that has general knowledge of PC building when you make your final decision because not all the components are compatible with each other, and have in mind that if you actually build a computer yourself you could save a bit of money rather then paying it to the computer store that had build it themselves, but if you have a friend with general knowledge about building a PC that shouldn't be a problem.

If gaming's your thing, desktop is always the way to go. Laptops just aren't durable enough without spending a ridiculous amount. Also desktops are more easily upgradeable. But okay, serious half-assed answer aside, I really only came in here so I could post this;
