    Dream.

Little something I wrote for my valedictorian speech. What you guys think?

"You might all think I'm crazy at the end of this but I feel like I have to say it, people need to hear it. If I offend you, I'm sorry, but I need to speak my mind on this subject. We get one life.
Just one. There is no re-do, there is no reset button. Every choice you make is set in stone, permanent, everlasting. Everything you do will be in your memories and the memories of others for the rest of your life. So don't do or say anything you're going to regret. But much more importantly, don't ever be afraid to do what you want. What you really want. You know what that is, even if you won't admit it to yourself.
    We only get one shot.
So what are you going to spend your three-score and ten doing? Teaching in a classroom? Taking care of the elderly? Is that what you really want? I'm not here to judge anyone's dreams. But I have never met a little boy who wants to grow up and work at an Old Folks Home, or fix TV's, or run pipeline, for a living. All of us have dreams. Mine is to be President. It may seem childish, but what's wrong with that? Children aren't afraid to dream. They aren't afraid to tell people what they really want. For those well versed in the Bible, recall the verse Matthew 18:3; "“Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." Powerful words from a powerful man. Here's another:“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” That's from Picasso. So don't give up on your dreams. Live them. This IS the dream.
    100 years.
That's 52,594,876 minutes. Most don't make it that long. Yet people spend years of their life wandering around with no sense of purpose, helping no-one, furthering no dream. What I want you all to take from this is that every single minute counts. Use every one, all of them, to fulfill a purpose. Find your dream, create one, and pursue it. Humans are passionate beings, it's not natural for us to grow stale and uncaring. I have never felt that way in my life, and it just kills me to see people in that state, not loving anything, not chasing any goal, just not really caring. So please, please, please, join me in chasing dreams. I want all of us to love life and the things it has in store for us. Don't be one of those people that wanders around life with no sense of purpose. Those people are already dead. Be alive. Live out loud.
    Dream."

    >.> long number in speeches suck to sit through; personal audience viewment. truncate long bits into shorter bits i'm not going to be writing down 52 million 5hundred 94 thousand 8hundred 76 minutes. ::: 52.5 million minutes: might do best to drop even further to hours.(876k hours) and unless you are in a religious school. /shrug on bringing the bible into a state function.

Think before you post. You can only get smarter by playing a smarter opponent.

I like that, I'll do hours. I put the religious part in because I do go to a Christian private school. It wasn't in there originally, but I figured if I wanted to score high marks with the jesus-freaks I needed to include some Christian propaganda. Also, it helps the speech strike a certain cord with the religious types.

Glad you liked it! At 17 I've done quite a lot also... and I try to make people realize all the time that life it too short to be afraid.

I hate these types of speeches. They're all really cheesy and have the same vibe. It's written well, but not my cup of tea.

Meh, I can understand that. A lot of kids think they can't do anything with their lives though, I feel like I needed to motivate them.
