Well, it started as an idea and a private project to improve my html, php and JavaScript skills.
But it seems the project is growing too large for me to handle on my own.
Anyway, the idea was to create a high quality Warez website.
Why would I do that? Like I stated above, it was merely a private project to improve my skills. I never intended to release it to the public. It seemed like a good practice project.
The pro's about creating your own website is that you can add as many features as you want. Most Warez websites use a bulletin board or forum, but this limits the features you can use.
My idea was to add my own features to make the website easier to navigate and easier to use.
But first, let me show you a screenshot of my website:
As you can see, I've used as less images as possible and as much CSS as possible to improve the overall speed of the website. The website is compatible with all browsers, including IE 6.0.
Some features that I've already included:
* Optimized for speed using minimal images and maximum CSS
* Dynamic pages using AJAX
* Simple, yet rich and elegant design
* Detailed info about an "item". (e.g. Filetype, filesize, author, etc.)
* The option to customize your details page with a backdrop and some colors (e.g. a wallpaper or a screenshot as background)
* iTunes scraper that scrapes album info from iTunes as well as preview songs of an album
* Secured login system
* Step-by-step registration
And much more features in due time.
More scrapers will also be added later. (Maybe IMDB for movies)
Features yet to add:
* Contribution reward system (probably Pyrate points)
* A rank system that works similar to a "Thanks" system from a forum.
* More scrapers
If there is a feature you'd like to add, please tell me.
So the thing is.. do you think I should release this to the public? If so, I can open up an alpha soon and select a few persons to be an alpha tester to see if everything works.
