Question about cracking games\applications in general.

I'm not entirely sure where to place this thread, but I was wondering if anyone had some good tips on cracking applications\games. I've found some material but nothing anywhere close to current ( like from 1995 or some mess ).

Any guides, helpful advice, tips and tricks, general things to look for or do or really anything that will put me in a right direction would be excellent.

Go learn assembly, and how to use debuggers, such as Ollydbg. This will allow you to easily crack basic stuff. The more advanced things can be done with Ollydbg (and a few other tools) as well, but they are more advanced =P

Also, a background in programming will help you in your quest to learning reverse engineering.

EDIT: Vinland, there is nothing wrong with what he asked. There is no crack or warez in the post. He could easily just reword his question to not even include the word "Crack", but only use "Reverse Engineer". Its the same thing that goes on in the "Memory Editing" section, except he is asking for knowledge of a more general subject.
