Will wing tsun work on street fights (I am starting to learn it, as a self defence sport)??

Cause i am starting to a new school, and there is bad bad bad... guys over there.. so i just wanted to be safe , you know ?

Will Wing tsun help me to defend myself?

Self Defense martial arts are a joke, I would know I was in Kung fu for frikin ever, my advice, work out, and take like kickboxing lessons or something, and Nilum is right a weapon wouldn't be a bad idea

In my city, Tacoma, Self defense is defined as defending yourself with just as much as your attacker has, E.G. If someone starts to fight you with their fists, and you pull out a switch blade, and stab him YOU will go to jail, probably with the guy that attacks you too depending on the situation.

I did Wing Tsun for over 2 years, and I must tell you, I wouldn't mess with someone who is really good at it.
But the problem is, to really be able to defend yourself you'll have to practise for a long time. Still, in my opinion it's really helpfull in some situations, as you get more self confident through time...Furthermore, you don't have to be the strongest, since it's all about technic, muscels don't play a big role, possible because it was invented by a woman

Your brother should deffinitly give it a try, there's nothing to do wrong by learning it.

Hi, in my opinion Wing Tsun is a very effective self defense, because it´s more an attacking than a defending martial arts type.
If you want to defend yourself, it´s allways good to be the first one who attacks.
Also I think it´s a very compacted type of martial arts.There are no gratuitous technics in it it´s just an effectiv self defense.
For me it´s the best way to defend myself.
