how to own your own vent

ok i searched this, and i found some, but they dont tell you the step by step guide on how to do this so here we go.

first of all. you need to download the actual server here, choose what one your computer fits in.

next you need to go here and create an account
after you create an account go here and create your name

make sure you enable wildcard and use the auto ip detection.

next your going to wanna download load port forward config here
    find your router and

there is a readme inside. after that go to

    cusom applications.

    new

    any name

then type in the tcp line 3784

then click forward this app, then update router

after you updated you wanna go into

    C:/windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts

and ill put in red the stuff you need to change

    # Copyright (c) 1993-2006 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost
    ::1 localhost
    internal ip your dyndns host
    external ip your dyndns host

    then file, save.

then go into the vent file you downloaded and double click the vent_srv

and then just put your dyndns hostname in the hostname or ip section of vent...with port 3784 and you should be able to connect.

    _______________________________________________________________

now this is how to get admin ability

there should be a vent_Srv text file, all you gatta do is open it up and change your settings...if that does not work.

    open up notepad

and copy everything in the vent_srv document into the notepad you just opened up, but add your settings in there while your at it..then save the notepad file as vent_srv.ini

then put it into your ventrilo srv file, and you should get something saying that that file is already there...you wanna click over ride or something if not just remove the old one and add the new one in there. your vent should now be fully functional...and questions please pm.
