downloading music, virus protection help

i used to download music way back in the day, back when napster was still free along with kazaa, limewire etc. i recently bought a new comp. and swore i would never touch the stuff because i would always end up getting a nasty virus i couldnt remove. well i kinda want to get back into it, and i was just wondering is there anyone else who downloads quite a bit of just general stuff on the net and do they have a spyware/virus protection they would recomend? i currently use ESET NOD32 Antivirus, also on occasion i run spybot searcyh and destroy. any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated
