I've had a similar thing happen to me, was in a Kara run, people kept getting dc's, soon I was hit by one of them, when I could eventually logged back in, I was in shattrath. I thought I had been reset to my HS location, but I hadn't properly zoned, technically I was in Karazhan, but yet in the outlands.

A lock went ahead and summoned me back into kara, just before moroes. I could see objects and other players +npc's but nothing else, I was under nagrand and couldn't move, I was "falling".

This is an old, old common thing to most exploiters. He got into the underworld. Mostly happens while disconnecting while changing zone/moving into an object.

None-the-less, congratulations on experiencing it aswell.
