    Velocitys sig tut [GIMP]

Hi, as you should know my name is Velocity and this is my tutorial on how to make a forum signature with GIMP, The reason I made this is because I know that I’m to stupid and lazy to go through the process of getting a cheated version of Photoshop so I settled with GIMP, I also made this guide because I am pretty sure there's only one other GIMP guide in the forums, well here me go.

First of all you'll need to download GIMP,
GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program

Then you should get some brushes and some fonts, Download fonts | dafont.com
Download Free Fonts @ 1001 Fonts .com

You can easily find a guide to installing fonts and brushes, but because I’m nice ill link two guides for each. Getting Fonts For Gimp for fonts. How To Install Brushes for brushes. Once you've got them all installed and sexy, you can move on to the next part of my guide.

Ok here's where you life as an artist begins. Open gimp, when it's opened go to the top left button called File, then go to new and make the settings, width=400 and height=100, once you’ve got your screen opened with you blank white 400x100 soon to be sig, Get your brush/es and start getting yo groove on, once you’ve got the brushes how you like it go to Layers>Colors>Color balance, then start change the button around till your sig looks good enough to hang on the wall, now you'll have to get your render, now there’s two ways to do this, you can download the Wow model viewer and cut the image out using the Create and edit paths button, or you can go to
Planet Renders // Renders - Home and find one you like, now when I first went on that site I always just Saved all the renders I liked on the first page DON'T DO IT, because you'll get an uncut jpg. And we don't want that if you want to be lazy, after you've found the render you want, click it once and it will take you to the screen with the render on it, click the image again and you'll get the png. Cutout in a new window, that's the one we want to save as. Once you have your render or prettied up and cut out, go back to you sig window and go to File, Click open as layer and get your layer, then go to the move layers & selections button (the plus sign with the arrows on the end) Now move your image to where you'd like it and then go to Layer>Merge Layer on the sig window, You'll now have your sig almost done.

Now for the last bit, FONT. Go to the sig window and go to filters, the go to the very bottom and click Text and Free Type, You'll have to find the Font you downloaded before and put your name/GT/Wow name ect. Then once you have it make sure you have the color you want is selected as the front color, Now press Ok and go to the Move layers & selections button again this time you're moving your Text, move to where you want it, then merge it down, Then go to File, Save As, Then name it what you want, then go to the Select File Type (By Selection) and put it as a png. Once that's done, YOU'RE DONE, you should have a nice looking sig with a nice render and nice text, go to one of the many picture hosting sites,
Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photo bucket being my personal favorite, save it up, the when you've got it saved to the site, find the IMG code highlight it and right-click, press copy and go to the User CP in your forums, go to Edit Signature and right click and paste it in their, you should have the image code in there, once done click Update Signature. YOU'RE FINISHED, actually now I think about it I said you were done 7 lines ago, sorry I lied, Hope you have fun with my guide, I plan on putting some pictures in soon. Later.
