Also perma banned, this is why non-sub games are stupid. They can just outright ban 4k+ people for something they messed up on and there's no downside for them. At least 25% of those people will buy a new copy of GW2 and that's revenue that they're gaining again. If you're following the reddit discussion on this topic, the official arenanet account posted a bunch of times about it, then deleted all the posts and has been quiet now for 30+ minutes. I'm assuming they're being told to stop posting about it because it's making the community ask some questions that they don't want to answer. The fact they're making people post publicly on reddit to be named and shamed before getting a response about their ban shows a massive about of unprofessional behavior the likes of which I have never encountered in an MMORPG company. I won't be buying another copy of the game, I'd rather eat shit than give them another penny after this.

Buying an item you know is clearly under priced since there is obviously a plethora of 21 karma level 80 legendaries out there right?

Of course it is an oversight and of course people are going to do it. You understand its a problem but instead of reporting it you do it anyways... over and over. You know damn well what you are getting into. Anet has had nothing but bugs and exploits since launch. I can count 5 off the top of my head that have been fixed... i also know of a number more that still exist and have the potential to get you a lot of money. Anet knows they got a mountain of exploits that they havent even discovered. and they are setting an example to curtail this behavior. It is up to you if you wanna risk it or not.

We could discuss who is mad all day, personally I'm not mad at all. Losing £50 to me isn't a big deal, the time would have been spent on another video game doing something pointless either way, so I have no reason to be mad. I'm stating my opinion on what they've done. You could argue all day if this was a blatant exploit or not, but the people botting and using third party programs are receiving 3 day bans, 4k+ players buying something from a vendor in a legit way, not exploiting any game mechanics are permanently banned, no warning, no prior black marks on accounts and no second chance. They've let huge bugs slip already without banning anyone. The company that developed this game made this mistake and we're paying for it, while they're gaining more money. If you can honestly tell me a 1 strike policy is the correct way to do things, I'll accept your opinion and cease to discuss this with you further, but honestly this was a bad decision.

First off, is there a book or code of laws to abide by when it comes to the banning of exploiters or botters?

Second off... People getting 10 levels over night or something that can effect their gem economy. Ive also made a point in an earlier post about how exploits just keep cropping up and without harsher penalties being evident people will continue to exploit. You mentioned earlier that you expected them to just fix it and move on. Well damn if every exploit comes around that can potentially cause harm to people, everyone will just keep exploiting if it the only threat is it gets fixed and they keep their earnings.

Its the developers job to make sure the game is functional, not the user.

i think the bigger question is why in no monthly games is this happening and not there monthly sub ones. if anyone played warhammer you can remember the huge farming of kick ass gears that went on for 1 day b4 they ninja patched it. everyone was rocking 1-4 gear easily that day from everyone killing each other in pvp. why not ban full servers for there mistakes? cause they are monthlies, simple as that is all i see it as. if 1 person only buys gw2 againt they already made 60bucks more then they would of ..this is a loophole even if we are in the wrong. they should come out with a game that doesn't have huge bugs like this. lol specially as simple as wrong numbers on a price tag. if we let them ban the 3000 people we are saying there next mmo they can set 50traps like this purposely. were the devs who made the mistake fired? i mean they just lost 3000subs right? naaa they just made them a possible 3000X60$, go ahead and make them mistakes guys, np. no one is perfect.

lol i think his point is all mmo's come out with so many bugs these days that it is our problem now cause we let them get away with it for so long. it's an electonic game, it can possibly hurt anyone or anything in the game for most part. as for there gem store, i can care less ...this was my first and last mmo i ever play that sells its own currency. let us sell it, let the rmt sell it, but screw them ..they make enough already and they already ruined mmo's for mainstream casual play, i don't need to play on top of that games that sell there own shit too. but lol i got into a rant instead of the one line i was going to just type . ...dang i could be playing gw2 ..one perma banned and other got lucky only bot banned and missed out on the karma weapons
