actually, it might be not. submit a ticket to blizz stating that you deleted your characters long time ago and would like them to be restored. it worked out for me once!

What's already shared to your main account (fos, achievement, mounts, etc) will stay there forever. Even if unmerged account gets banned, what is already shared, doesn't get removed. That's whats good abut it. Also it doesn't affect your main account.

Yes if an account looks like it misses characters, you can submit a ticket trying to recover lost characters, it works most of the time.

Boght 5 accounts, of 40+/50+, 1 account was decent meaning it was a maxed out character at level 80. The 4 other accounts had NOTHING on them, not even a maxed character, and this was 3 - 40+ months and 1 - 50+ month account. So yeah, kinda waste.
