If you spot elite packs ahead, you can gain your +15% crit chance by using frost nova on destructible items in the environment. This works in conjunction with monsters (2 monsters + 3 breakables will give the buff).
Saved me a lot of trouble on an elite pack in A3 today, hope it helps someone else out too.

Didn't know it worked on objects thats pretty cool. I use Bone Chill rune for frost nova, then stack that with time warp rune on slow time for 20% more dmg.. so 35% extra damage total.
