Is there a point of having more than 1 wizard for different loot?

    Hey,
so basically i wanted to ask if you guys have made any experience or if there is maybe a bluepost or sth about that.
Does the loot change if i play another character from the same class, for example: I have a lvl 70 wizard, which is my main, is there a point to level up another wizard
to get maybe different loot drops?
I see a lot of people having like 10 Barbs all on lvl 70, maybe just so they dont have to change the build all the time.
But my experience so far: When I played with my main wizard, I found in about 100 Hour playtime on lvl 70 1 Vyr set piece and 1 tal set piece. Once i started playing with my 2nd level 70 wizard i suddenly found a lot of Vyr set pieces in just under 40 Hour playtime. Is it just random or is there really a different loot table for each new created character?
Btw I played with my main wizard after that again, but never found vyr set pieces on him, except the one i found in the beginning when RoS was released.

Is there a point of having more than 1 wizard for different loot?

It's just random, the is no difference in terms of loot if you are playing the same class. As you said, people may have leveled multiple lvl70 to easily switch between builds, but also could have done that to get the guaranteed legendary drop on Malthael.

The following is conjecture that has been proven in parts.

The game tries to maintain a 0.5-1.0 legendary/hour drop rate. When you are logged out of a character you gain a certain % of bonus magic find over time. The most efficient way to farm legendaries is to log out and change characters after one drops because that bonus MF goes away. Have you ever noticed if you don't play a couple days you log in and get a legendary within 20 mins, very often?

tl/dr - Play a character until a legendary drops, switch characters and you get more legendaries / hour than playing one character straight. If they're all the same class then you can share all the loot across them and gear out one very strongly.

""""proven in parts"""" more like not proven at all.
    1) The game doesn't try to maintain 0.5-1 legendary/hour drop rate. That's more like the farming speed of the average player.
    2) You don't gain mf over time.
    3) Unless there is a significant sample of data to consider what you said, I don't think "noticing" that you drop a legendary within 20 min of play allows you to affirm that he should be switching characters to maximize legendary drops

No because it's a theory invented by lunatics that have no idea of how statistics work.

From: Leg timer? - Forums - Diablo III

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/top...07?page=15#293
The fact that some people claim to go for 10+ hours without finding a legendary is not only not our intent, but should in fact be impossible. We added a system in the expansion that tracks the amount of time you spend fighting creatures without finding a legendary and after a certain period of time will slowly start increasing the legendary drop rate. Once a legendary drops for you, actual item not crafting recipe or material, we reset that timer. This is meant to be a safety net so that the random can never be too extreme to the negative end. If players are legitimately going 18+ hours and not seeing a legendary it's possible that there are some bugs floating around that need to be identified.

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/top...07?page=23#451
First the clarification, the timer system that works behind the scenes is meant to be exactly that, behind the scenes. No you can't afk the system, there are a lot of moving pieces to it and we talked about it extensively before we implemented it to guarantee its not exploitable. At it's heart Diablo is a game about slaughtering demons and getting random cool rewards. The system that is in place should never be experienced by 99% of the population, it's there for the 1% who just get really bad random rolls for an excessively long period of time. If we want you to get a legendary every 2 hours, the system basically says "ok it's been like double/triple that period of time, just help the guy out!"

Made a 2nd wiz, 50 hrs+ now he got 2 TFs, 2 moonlight wards and 3 tals orbs that I didn't get from my 1st wiz which I made since ROS release and has 300+ hrs. Go figure.

Anything about the imaginary rest timer ? Can't find the sentence that says you gain mf over time when logged out.
Anything about the drop rate of 0.5-1leg/hour ? It's been officially confirmed the system doesn't kick in before 6-7hours of fighting time without loot. AND it has been confirmed the timer is shared across your whole account, doesn't change anything when you switch characters.

Actually, have you read the informations you provided at all ?

I played ~200hours since ros and I'm full geared. Didn't switch once. Do you know the meaning of the term "variance" ?

can't approve this, did act5 chest runs (without killing anything) yesterday for 1 hour multiboxing, got 6 legendaries per character, one got even 8 legendaries.
if your theory would be true, i would've got only 1 legendary.

what i did notice since ros release is that if you dont get any legendary for 15-30 mins while doing chest runs, go do some rifts, kill mobs and come back later. if you notice a lot of legendaries dropping, keep going as long as you get 1 legendary per 15 mins. if the legendaries stop dropping, go kill some mobs, rinse and repeat.

at least this is what i've been doing for the last couple of weeks and got a good legendary rate out of it.
