VMs are not considered gaining unfair advantage. It doesn't mess with the Blizzard files in any ways nor with Diablo 3 files. And if it's configured correctly it can mask your MAC, IP and more. If you bot it's a extra layer of protection for your main.

Most ban reports I've seen indicates usage of VMware.

I bot my accounts all on one PC and don't use any sort of virtualization or multiboxing software and they're all still fine.

I hate hate hate people that come to conclusions like this. I didn't use any on either of my bots and they were hit just the same. No gold selling of any kind, Authenticators on both, and RMAH usage that wasn't out of the ordinary. 10m every other day.

No one knows anything about what causes bans. Botting causes them. Simple enough.
