VMWorkstation Lagging - No Idea Why

So im trying to run my bots in VMWorkstation 8.0. My main PC is Windows 7 64 bit. My VM is Windows XP 32 Bit.

My virtual machine runs FLAWLESSY, everything works, runs d3 perfect, no issues whatsoever.

The SECOND I open a folder (any folder) while d3 is running, the VM becomes unusable. Everything lags so bad, its literally unusable. I cant run my bot because the windows are so laggy, that it actually lags the bot Gui everytime something inside the GUI changes. The lag from the GUI changing causes D3 to lag, and messes up the bot.

tl:dr: Virtual machine runs everything fine. If D3 is open, and I open ANY folder, the VM becomes unusable.

    Why is this happening?

Is it on the same HDD as the OS? And/or any other bots, etc. etc. I'm told D3 is very I/O heavy. Try separate drives or some USB 3.0 drives?

Yes, its on the same HDD as the OS. The main OS is W7 x64, VM is XPSP3 32 Bit. The SECOND I open that folder to run bot, the VM just dies. Yet it runs D3 at 60FPS.

Try running a single processor with a single core on your VM

Disable CD drive and Floppy drive. This fixed it for me. Either remove them or disconnect them.

I found the only fix to this problem is to disable any overlayed GUI and run the game fullscreen with bot, I'm using Mysql to log bot actions and a web interface to display stats (maybe it's overkill). But this helped bump my fps from an average 30 to 120 PER VM and smooth as butter, and I'm running 8 VMs atm.
