Question bout gold trading

Can I just go in a game, transfer the gold to another player / get money on paypal, and be safe? Or do I have to get an item in return, do it in smaller parts? Im thinking 1-50m transfer I guess.

Of course you can trade gold sure, but keep in mind you have to trust the other one to pay you.
