Diablo III Account Penalties - Battle.net Support
It sounds like they are using various methods of extracting information to flag accounts and then those flagged accounts will be dealt with on an individual level...
They are policing this like real investigators would.... probably have a big ass list of thousands of account that are flagged and will check each one individually.. yes this will take forever, but it is most likely it will eventually happen to us all unless we are lucky.
For example...accounts that have obtained 100mill gold and only completed act 1 quests.
Level 60 character and only completed act 1 quests
Killed Sakroth 10000 times
Transferred 100mil gold outbound
Timing patterns of quest completed such as doing Sakroth every 25 seconds and/or for 5 or 12 or 24 hours straight.
I'm sure with a combination of this information they can be given the assurance it's a botting account and give it the ban hammer.
From the various sources of information in this forum and other forums, it is NOT specific to a particular Bot. It Includes AutoIT botters and even AHK leveling. We all know AH bots are easily targeted, but there are also reports of bans for abusing the ZK leveling trick even accounts doing it BY HAND as well, so it's pretty crazy. There is a report in this thread about an IP range type ban where a true non-botter has been banned...
There does not seem to be a pattern, there is not a particular script, and it seems to be random at the best case scenario. Unfortunately I botted for a 1 night on my main account ages ago and I expect that I will get banned eventually once they reach my flagged account in the list.
Again, this is my speculation, but this seems to be the go...but I hope i'm wrong and it's more of a random thing. I only obtained about 10mil gold in total from botting and that was just to serve my own purposes, I never bothered to bot to make money, rather bot to get good gearbut I knew the risk involved.
So my friends, this SUCKSSSSSSSS
lol

It seems most of the people (if not all) who got banned had 100+ million gold collected. Seems like Blizz may have issued bans based solely on this factor as well as how many clients are running per IP.
I have two accounts, both of which have botted and neither of them have been banned yet. I used my first account to bot for 1 week and collected no more than 10 million gold. My second account has been botting for 3 weeks (but with little actual botting hours) and has netted just over 12 million. I haven't been banned yet so I'm guessing the ban has to do with how much gold you collected.
Also, I have never run both accounts simultaneously (because I don't know how to lol). I usually quit one account and log with my second. I transfer gold by putting up crappy gear at ridiculous prices and buying them with the botting account.
Next time any of you guys post your banned bots, let us know how much gold you collected so we can try to see if theres a pattern.

My main account had over 300m collected, others maybe around 80-100m.
I asked the blizzard support about this, this was there response:

Looks like Permabanned.![]()
Pretty upfront ban hammer, hurr durrr, you are violate Terms of Use.
Seems like any flag is subject to permaban. So better lay off any botting for the time being until someone comes with a miracle solution. :P
The quote pretty much says they ban based on speculation. Under "Ban Reason: N/A" already shows its a random shot of suspicion only.
9 accounts banned just now on US.
only had like 6-7mil on them each.
booting Immortal only. 24x7. Never any scripts. Never any other bot.
gold should go right up now so off to get more soon and keep on trucking...

Recent ban wave seems to be mostly IB's, and multiple account botters who run 20+ hours a day. Obviously there's exceptions but I just read every post of this new wave and its a lot of 20+ hour a day multi account IB botters.
Looks like they are trying to eliminate the big dogs as a priority. I only see very few reports of people banned doing 12 hours a day or less type. That doesn't mean the 12 hour a day guys arent flagged though. They could just be banning the more steady botters as priority.
For me though, seeing these patterns has me botting less to try and go unnoticed. Might be feeble, but might also save me.
As for main accounts being banned, I'd be interested to hear if you guys used RMAH as opposed to selling outside sources. I'd be willing to be main accounts linked to RMAH selling will also be a priority on ban list.
My main has been selling on RMAH and it's still selling.
ok so 10 of my botted accounts were banned last night (IB), and today I wake up and my two NON-botting accounts are banned.. one was a mule account that stored gold, the other was used for RMAH. completely clean, never ran any sort of "third party software" which is the reason for the ban.. i had over 300m gold on my mule, and hundreds of $ worth of items on my rmah account... i guess ill call and try and get unbanned, what are the chances that i actually will?
