about 5 min later it was the same "click click click kill crap click click click loot, etc" that wow is.

and i allready have 2 85s.

dont need another grindfest game with a monthly.


unless rift REALLY does something to stand out, its not going to last imo.

That's just plain ignorant. The rift invasions, rift events, world events really do stand out. In my opinion this game is loads more fun that WoW ever were, I mean the quests have loads of story, most of them has special mechanics and if you get bored of plain questing you can always go hunt down rifts for their special rewards, do some Warfronts.

I think people are being too harsh, the reason WoW is still around with subscribers is because they are rehashing content which people are HOPING brings them back to their vanilla/bc days, and people don't want to give up the MMO they have played for years.

I agree, Rift is a lot like wow, with the grinding out and just raiding at high levels and etc, but atleast it's SOMETHING. Either way, what MMO isn't going to have grinding and all that stuff? That's an MMORPG, it's time consuming and we still grind stuff out in WoW.

I find the game to be a new look on things, because I didn't want the cartoony graphics, I really liked the medieval feel to it, but the article is just to get people an idea of what to expect, without trying to spoil anything for them.

Fanboy much? Just because the site is mainly for WoW it doesn't mean other MMO's fit the profile as its still a "mmo(o)wned" not Warcraftowned...
Gotta agree with zlo, for the moment people only play because they think the whole "vanilla" feeling will come back.

Another thing my friend, Rift does stand out a lot, seeing has it has it own thing with rifts and zone invasions with bosses at the end.

I played WoW and have accomplished pretty much everything. So Rift was my next game and it has caught my attention well.

Anyone that says Rift is bad or a WoW ripoff or pretty much anything negative regarding the game either didn't play it enough to really get a good understanding as to how good the game is or they couldn't handle the minimal learning curve and just went back to WoW to copy/paste talent builds, stat weights, rotations, etc.

336 unique specs among 4 callings. And I've yet to really find one that isn't useful in one way or another. Sure beats the 30 total specs of WoW across 10 classes lol.

Don't get me wrong, WoW is still a great game, but the community has gotten so bad that WoW no longer appeals to me.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but the game is a wow ripoff and the worst part about the game to me is their marketing strategy of putting down the top MMO that it bases everything off of. It's just like every other wow killer. In 3-4 months, we'll be hearing about how this game is shutting down servers or going free to play. My friends who have long since quit wow played this game for a few weeks and in those few weeks tried to convince me to play with them. As soon as I finally get a trial invite and let them know about it, theyve already quit because the game isnt as good as everyone thinks it is. It's a fresh look to mmos but the reality is that the fanbase will eventually go back to wow or the next wow killer. Any good features in it will be added to wow.

But this site is MMOWNED so they have the ability to talk about any mmo they choose.
It was interesting to read this article but I think I will personally be holding out for other games like SWTOR

that would kind of make the assumption that this websites PRIMARY (not only, PRIMARY) game is wow. sorry you don't like that, but its kind of true.

and no, I'm not a fan boy, as i said, i tried out rift, and it was the same game as wow, with improved graphics. but really if i want fancy graphics I'll go play Crysis2 or FarCry2 or UT3. i play mmo's for the content not the graphics. and there Rift falls short. i know quite a few people who "left for rift cause its so better" and sold there wow accounts, and are now having to re level a wow account, because rift, while great and awesome for the first month, gets old quick.


now that all the rift fanboi's have finished trying to put words in my mouth and argue against points i never made.......

You should really go at least 30+ before you say that is a wow copy, I can't see wow anywhere in this game except the UI and basic layout.
The game itself is unique in many ways, try it further then lvl 10 and you will see its a good game and it wont go F2P.

Age of Conan, Warhammer Online, All Points Bulletin, Aion, Tabula Rasa, FFXIV, Vangaurd, and many others all said the same thing. Too bad.

It seems pretty similar to wow if you ask me. The graphics may be one of the only things that seperates it. I would try it past level 10 but unfortunately they dont give out free trials. What's the point in buying a game that is most likely going to fail and you lose out on $50 + whatever the monthly fee was.

When I asked my friends why they thought the game was so good (for the 2-3 weeks they played it), the only thing they could tell me was that it was supposedly all of the awesome things from mmos put together. So basically wow, but better. Not really a good basis for an arguement huh?

I could go on and on but it's a waste of time because I think I'm right and you think you're right. So why dont we just agree to disagree.

Sad thing is, Blizzard isn't letting go of WoW and neither will it's userbase. They expect to have 1-2 expansions, now tell me, HOW is that gonna work, if people are slowly dropping now? Blizzard Entertainment is just turning into crap, they ****ed up on Starcraft 2, their own GSL Korean players are playing SC1 and shit cause SC2 is so imba. Their "new" FPSMMO is just going to fail, they are on board with Bungie and it's basically a Halo MMO, sounds great right? They are just MILKING their company name for all it's worth, if they don't do good with Diablo 3 you can expect to see Blizzard userbase tremble within the remaining years. Which I'm sure they are gonna mess up D3 since they are tending to all the wow kids who want to raid, and think they want to play Diablo 3 when ITS NOT AN MMO. So they are focusing on bettering PVE in D3 which makes no sense, and idk, I could go on for days, but you get the idea.

I got a 4 day guest pass, spent 2 hours downloading and installing. started the game, turned the graphics to high, made my character and cried at how bad the graphics are. It looks like someone took the crappy graphics of New Vegas and then mushed them into a turd. I was severely disappointed in this game. I uninstalled it within 10 minutes of playing. Wow is bad now, but most games are even worse.
Save your money and play Runescape, atleast then you won't be disappointed.

P.S. Don't let anyone fool you, WoW has MUCH better graphics.
P.P.S The Graphics weren't the only reason I disliked this game. The quests were lame too, and the class system was clunky

Ehm. I don't know if you're just believing the rumors or bad hype but since cataclysm they went up to over 12 Million subscribers. Mass posts about people quitting etc have been around since the game came out. You could argue that it's reaching a plateau but at the same time, if it makes money, why stop?

I can't really comment on SC2's performance seeing as how I don't play it but my friends seem to enjoy it and the community for it seems to be doing pretty well. Not to mention they still have 2 more versions to come out with.

I don't quite understand where you are going with the diablo 3 comments on tending to wow players. They have said multiple times that the game is not wow and they arent basing it off of wow. The 15 minutes I got to play it at Blizzcon tell me that it should be good. When people get too nostalgic, they set themselves up for failure. Diablo 2 wasn't exactly a pvp game. You had dueling (in which most cases people were BM) and you had griefing in the form of tppk. Not exactly a pvp game if you ask me.

I find it interesting that the only ones placing Rift in a negative light hardly even touched the game and have no real experience in what the game has to offer.

I recently just got my 3rd level 50 toon and I'm still rather enjoying the game. Guess that probably has to do with the fact that I don't really find being spoon fed enjoyable.

Lets face it its an mmo, not that great, not that bad. Will leave it at that.

What it will do is keep you occupied a few days if you were into wow, but vanilla wow is never coming back again and this game didnt fill the hole in my heart as I had hoped it would.

It's cool and all with rifts popping up here and there and the invasions, but after a few rifts it feels pretty much the same.

So I would advice against even installing this game, as it is nothing new and you'll probaly get dissapointed.
