Welcome to the first issue of Global Supremacy. I'm Aphel, your host and lead writer for this section. Notice that I say lead writer, as in the future, we will be hosting opinion columns and discussions from different users in the MMOwned and WoW community.
Note that most posts will also feature an audio implement. This will usually be an audio version of the article, accompanied with BG music for easy listening.

Global Supremacy is an MMOwned news feature about the influence of philosophy and political science on World of Warcraft and its storyline. Here, we'll be talking about WoW's lore and storyline, and how it relates to political and philosophical concepts in the real world.
The other half of Global Supremacy is lore speculation and debate. Readers can get involved any time by posting a comment on the article of the week. I will select a pool of readers from the comments each week, and will end each post with a question for my readers. You are also free to make suggestions in the comments, and I will try to read as many as I can at once.
But let's be done with all of the boring technicalities, and dive right in!
Follow us after the break!

The Horde has consistently been a mighty military behemoth. With the combined forces of the fierce orcs, the savage trolls, the resourceful forsaken, the mystic blood elves and the honorable tauren, the Horde is a force to be reckoned with. But will the Horde continue to stay unified in a future context?
While the Horde calls upon a vast array of resources from all of its member states, the sectionalism it experiences as a result of age-old grudges and cultural differences restrains the true power of this conglomerate of nations as an expansionistic force. It is likely that these divisions could even widen, come Cataclysm.
Complicatingly, however, Garrosh’s speculated dictatorial rise to power as Warchief may force the other races of the Horde into submission (thus, contracting the cultural ‘gap’).
While the Forsaken no doubt have a use for the Horde, their loyalty to the other member states is questionable, at best. Sylvanas seeks to eradicate life on Azeroth as a whole, and the combined forces of the Alliance and Horde would completely prevent her from accomplishing such a plot; unless of course, it was extremely well-orchestrated (for example, global infection).
It is in the Forsaken’s best interest to hold onto the Horde for as long as possible to eradicate the Alliance, and thusly, reduce the threat of resistance to their plans. But, we know that Garrosh plans to keep a short leash on the Forsaken, and even reinforce his unquestionable rule by inserting Kor’kron into the Undercity, to oversee the alchemical experiments there (Also, it can be noted in the Cataclysm trailer that the Forsaken have completely stopped using their ‘new plague’ against their enemies. Their ‘plague carriers’ now launch explosives without a biological effect).
What of the Tauren in the Horde? They could be a complicating factor in the unity of the Horde, since they will be following the Light (at least in some form) in the upcoming expansion, which will only really help their relationship with the Alliance; unless of course, they go about acquiring the powers of the Light in a similar way to the Blood Elves (which is looking increasingly unlikely). The Tauren also have good relations to the Kaldorei by way of the Cenarion Circle. Will the Tauren really stand by and allow their allies to destroy the ancestral homelands of their more ancient companions, the Night Elves? Will they allow the Kaldorei to be subjugated by the military might of the Warsong Clan? Perhaps this is the reason that Cairne Bloodhoof looks exceedingly dangerous to the Horde. This could be a possible reason for his assassination: to help Garrosh prevent betrayal by his own allies.
The Jungle trolls have been allies of the Horde for just about a decade, as it stands. They still continue to seek new lands to call their own. With Garrosh evicting most non-orcs from Durotar/Orgrimmar, what fate will the trolls suffer? It seems that they may have to find their home somewhere else in Cataclysm, which raises a multitude of options (Zoram’Gar, Stranglethorn). Can the trolls continue to support the Horde if they are evicted from the lands that Thrall entitled to them upon the conditionals of their joining? While the trolls are a vengeful people, their blood pacts are strong, and they are the least likely faction to ever betray the Orcish Horde, even if they suffer temporary abuse by the despot of the Horde. The trolls can be called the strongest allies of the Orcish Horde.
The Blood Elves live under their own arrogant opinions that they are far superior and far more intelligent than the rest of the member races of the Horde (with the possible exception of the Forsaken). With a long history and ancient arcane knowledge, the Blood Elves are almost indispensible to the Horde. Since they are secure without the help of the other member states of their faction, it is likely that the Blood Elves will prosper as a faction on the road ahead, considering that the Scourge may be controlled and quelled as a threat in totality. They have a strong alliance with the Forsaken. This leaves us with the assumption that the Blood Elves remaining in the Horde will keep the Forsaken somewhat loyal, as well. Even Garrosh is not blind enough to give orders to the Sin’dorei.
The orcs themselves are the main member race of the Horde, being the only race of the five that have not faced a major genocidal conflict, or population damper. The race itself will only grow more prosperous for the foreseeable future, as Garrosh stepping up as the forceful despot of the Horde – and the evident takeover of Central Kalimdor – promotes their expansionistic ventures.

This week's comment response question is:
"Aphel gave his insight on where he believes the Horde are headed in Cataclysm. Do you agree or disagree with any of his points? Do you have a completely different idea yourself?"
