So much for, "power to the players." In recent news in the gaming world, GameStop has earned itself a lot of flack for their recent scandal. GameStop has been removing the OnLive coupons from the new release Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The coupon for OnLive would offer the customer who bought the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution a free digital copy if they subscribe with OnLive. A cloud gaming service that has been gaining popularity over the course of this year. This means GameStop is opening brand new copies of Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PC and simply closing them back up as if nothing ever happened. They are attempting to do a shawty cover up job because GameStop has major plans to expand to the digital gaming market, and couldn't stand giving OnLive any exposure.
If you ask me, that's a high risk move to do, to rapidly pull all coupons from a brand new game so that you don't lose a few people to OnLive's service rather than your own. GameStop should expect to see a lot of flack and their PR Team to be doing a lot of PR over the next few weeks. The memo, oiriginally written by Josh Ivanoff, Field Operations Manager, has hid behind the PR Team and has refused to comment on the matter, after telling employees to yank the coupons from brand new games. Here is an image of the memo:

Here are a few quick quotes from one of the GameStop Reps.
GameStop said that the OnLive service competes against Spawn Labs and Impulse, which Gamestop acquired in April, if digital distribution channels are compared. "As OnLive is, at its core, a source for games (as GameStop is), it truly competes against all of our distribution channels."
UPDATE:
GameStop gave in and has decided to start recalling Deus Ex: Human Revolution and honoring all returns with a receipt! Check it out here: http://videogamewriters.com/exclusiv...troversy-21768
