    professional, huh? Let me to tell you: enigma32's code is state-of-the art if you have to work with it, especially updating to new patches. It IS the good API, so I'm not sure what your problem is...

    I explained it : I just need a simple follower bot, working with the latest version.
    I didn't say enigma32 code was not good dude. There is just too much stuff I don't need for a simple API, and, as I said, many properties or structs use is unknown.

    @enigma32 : I though the code was generated from a closed source, obfuscated .NET program. That would have explained the variable names. But after better reading of your origin post, I now understand your did it from stratch. Good job on this. As far as I know, you can just use a disassembler to reverse engineer a C++ program.

    Just a quick question : why do you hate botting? I think bots can kill a game, but I'm more interested in the challenge of a simple, human like, follower.

    I didn't say I hate botting. Did not like bots before when they ruined the economy but for RoS I don't really give a damn. However, I don't like the noobs that wants to bot but don't understand the most basic things and can't be arsed to read answers already given etc. etc.

    If you care to write an interface of the things you would need from memory then I might be able to find the things you need.

    Well, I played a lot Diablo 2 (I was a teenager then), and I've seen how bots - and even bugged items - ruined the game. So I agree, bots should not be widespread. Anyway, when too much people use a bot, the accounts will just be flagged for the next ban wave. At the moment, I don't plan to publish the bot, which won't be a farming bot anyway.
    But maybe a centralized, simple API could be useful for developers.
    I will write a draft interface of what I need, if you have time to spare I think I have the latest memory offsets of certain structures, that I got from the latest version of FindersKeepers (using reflector).

    btw - in Blizzard terms - any API, memory reading, etc is the same illegal stuff like making a ****tard clientless bot exploiting everything possible.
    The only reason I don't publish HUD's engine is because bots would grew like mushrooms based on that.
    If you don't like botting then I highly encourage you to do not want to publish ANY memory reading frameworks.

    Concerning memory reading, vs memory writing, Blizzard cannot make the difference between a honest process, let's say an antivirus, and a bot.

    If they want to check for a bot, I think there are going to :
    * Check for a certain program / signatures
    * Check for a behavior (it's hard for a bot to really act really same as a human)

    Tell me if I'm wrong, because I don't have any experience with Diablo 3 botting (except a few tries with a simple AutoHotKey "bot", and never had a problem).

    So, even if memory reading is against Blizzard TOS, the fact is they can't ban everyone who is just reading the memory.

    I don't dislike botting. I dislike a kind of massive botting, which kill games.
    A simple, common API, would not bring a massive amount of botters. Especially because now, almost nothing cannot be traded. People won't run it for profit, thus there will be a lot less players interested in botting.

    The goal of that API is to allow programs using it for fair tasks (UI mods for example) to have a unified way to access D3 memory data. It means, when a new patch comes out, everybody can use the up to date API.

    As soon as you make a public easy to use API, it will only be a matter of time until it leads to public bots.

    It's not so much the API being detected as actually actively developing it and spreading it that may lead to legal issues.

    Anyways, looking forward to that interface.

    There's nothing that a bot can do to ruin the game economy anymore since trade is all but eliminated. A bot can only be used now to farm exp, items, or mats...and only the botting account will be effected. I personally would like to see an API, as it would lead to really creative things and provide a challenge to those of us who want to learn and experiment with a game that we enjoy.

    You said in another post that too much has changed to "just update offsets" does this mean that a person looking into the structure of diablo 3 is better off starting from DarthTon framework? then using enigma as a starting point?
    Is there any point in spending time in IDA to try and update enigma? or has too much changed?

    Well, when it comes to attributes there are now 2 hash tables to read from, depends on a flag in the FastAttribGroup. Not sure if the hashing algorithm was changed for attributes or if that was for something else. Probably in UI cause they're hashing a hash which I though was a bit funny

    Anyways, if one understands IDA then it's definitely possible to do the required adjustments. Most people are using old frameworks that they don't understand (like AutoIT), and they think just modifying a few values will fix it. That is not the case as actual logic changed a bit, not much, but enough to screw those frameworks up.

    Is it anything in particular you need? If I could get some interfaces defined it would be much easier to create public releases, so answers like "I want it all" isn't that helpful, although valid. Currently I'm considering publishing a "take it or leave it" on Friday.

    Thanks for posting your work here on the forums. While I'm a software engineer, low-level stuff such as memory reading has always been a weakness despite of having spent countless of hours usings tools such as Cheat Engine trying to figure out how stuff works. While I was toying around with your helpers, a minor thing I noticed was that in your ItemLocation enum, adding -1 as Ground would help people such as myself in terms of recreating tools such as LootAlert using your contribution.

    Anyways, thanks for the work you have put into it. Do you have any plans in adding additional stuff to the project? I can see people are somewhat willing to help with proper interfaces and such, though it seems as if not much has happened in this area yet.

    Upcoming additions will be much faster enumeration/dump of containers and a MapHack (no map reveal) implemented using the library. It's close to done, but WPF is being a pain in the ass... trying to make it flexible enough so people can add their own customization while not completely ruining performance.

    After that I'm up for suggestions. Interfaces would definitely help, but I think I've scared people away by saying I'm not supporting bots.
