This should only apply to Draenei, Tauren, and Troll character edits.
Stuff you need:
MyWarcraftStudio (Now referred to as MWS)
DBC Editor (DBC Editor.exe)
Stuff you do:
1. Open MWS, click file and choose open, browse to your WoW Folder\Data\enUS and open the file named patch-enUS.MPQ (Replace enUS with your localization)
2. In the left pane of MWS there will be some number of folders, the top one being DBFilesClient click the small plus to the left of DBFilesClient to expand it. Underneath now look for ChrRaces.dbc and click on it. Now click File and Extract File To... save it somewhere, anywhere you will remember it.
3. Open DBC Editor, go to File, Open then browse to where ever you extracted ChrRaces.dbc with MWS and open it. At the bottom of DBC Editor move the slider right until you can see Field12 at the top.
4. Look for the name of the race which you are editing to (ie. I'm changing Tauren to Bloodelves, in this step I would look for BloodElf and select it), click their name once so that the row is highlighted, scroll back to the left so column 1 is in view. Write down the number in Column 1, this is the boot type.
5. Scroll back to the right, so you can see field 12. Look for the name of the race you are editing from (In this step I would select Tauren), click their name once so that the row is highlighted, scroll back to the right so column 1 is in view. Double click Column 1 so you can edit it, change it to the number you wrote down in the previous step and press enter (when you press enter the row underneath should become highlighted. It is REALLY important that the next row become highlighted.). File-> Save.
Edit: In this pic I accidentally edited Draenei feet instead of the Tauren I used in the example, oops.
6. Go back to MWS. In the top menus go to Pack and select Create MPQ Archive, Browse to your WoW Folder\Data, type in patch-#.mpq and click save (Replace # with a number (0-9 is what I know works), if you are asked to close your current archive press yes).
7. Click Pack -> Add File to Archive, in the new window press the ... button to the right of the text box. Browse to where you extracted ChrRaces.dbc, select it and press open. The text box should have filled in with "ChrRaces.dbc", now replace it with
DBFilesClient\ChrRaces.dbc
and click ok.
8. Close MWS, DBC Editor, and load your game with the model edit fix like normal, yay shoes.
