Here's a guide on changing hair color. Not written by me (haven't tested it): http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...air-color.html
Note: if you've swapped your char race, edit the numbers of your original race.
As the title says, this is a guide for changing your hairstyle. After some experimenting with DBC and looking around the net, I managed to (finally) change my troll's fugly hair style and would like to share this with everyone.
Tools:
-My Warcraft Studio
-Bitforge DBC editor
-WoW Model Viewer
-Basic (DBC) model editing skills
Right, lets get started then, shall we?
Step 1: pick your race's DBC ID from this list and put it in notepad if you have a bad memory
Note that it skips a number at blood elves.
Step 2: Open up MWCS (My Warcraft Studio) and open data\enGB or enUS\locale-enGB.MPQ
It's called locale-enUS.MPQ for you superior Americans.
Step 3: Expand the DBFilesClient folder and look for CharHairGeosets.dbc
There's the silly ol' thing!
Step 4: Now select it and click Extract File to... Save it in a new folder in your WoW\data folder.
You can save it anywhere actually, keeping it simple will help.
Step 5: Now with CharHairGeosets.mpq selected, take a look at MWCS. Remember picking your race's ID? Well this is where it comes into action. The second column in the list has all the race's ID's, so browse around and look for your race's ID. For this guide we'll go with trolls (race ID: .
Clicking the tab at the top that says "Race" will put things in numerical order.
Step 6: Also pick your gender from the list (0 for male, 1 for female). We'll go with a male troll for this guide. Put the gender number you have into notepad with the race ID.
This narrows it down to all 6 male troll hairstyles
Step 7: Now open WoW Model Viewer and expand the Character folder, pick your race and sex. Also give it the hair style that you wish to change and note the style's number. Put that number into notepad with your race ID and gender.
Now your notepad should have 3 numbers in it.
Step 8: Now go back to MWCS and find your hairstyle's number in the Section column.
We're getting there!
Step 9: In the same way as you found your current hairstyle, find the desired hairstyle and note the style number in a new notepad.
There it is in WoW model viewer.
Step 10: Now look for the race/gender/style combo in MWCS and note the Geoset number in your second notepad with the desired hair style number.
There's the desired style with the geoset number!
Step 11: Right, now for the actual editing part. Open up DBC Editor and open the CharHairGeosets.dbc we extracted earlier.
Step 12: Now look for the style that you have on your char. Look in your second notepad to check what the Geoset number of your desired style is.
Step 13: Now edit the Geoset number (Field 4) of your current style into the Geoset number of your desired style.
Step 14: Now save the DBC file. Open MWCS and click pack -> create MPQ archive. Name it patch-(3 to 9 or A-Z) and save the patch in WoW\data. Click pack -> add file and pick the edited DBC file. Don't add it just yet, put "DBFilesClient\" in front of the file name. Now click ok. Click pack -> Save and close archive.
Now simply launch WoW and enjoy your new hairstyle
