Hey there, it's me Jorby here, and tonight I'm going to show all you mac users out there how to finally do your own race-to-race swapping! I will provide all the links for all the programs you need to download in order to make a successful race swap! So without further due: Race-to-Race/Creature swapping, on a mac!
PROGRAMS USED
MPQ Extractor - Unpacks MPQ files.
DropMPQ - Compiles folders into MPQ files.
Renamer4Mac - Can rename multiple files at once, very useful, but not required.
Okay, now that we got all the programs we need to start our own race swapping, we'll have to start unpacking a few MPQ's from the World of Warcraft folder.
First, go to your WoW folder and locate the folder named 'Data' in that folder you'll find multiple MPQ files, we'll start with unpacking the ones titled 'common' and 'common-2' with MPQ Extractor. Due to the size of the MPQ files, this will take a while to unpack, so do something while you wait.
Second, once both MPQ's are unpacked, pick which races you wish to swap. Today, I will be swapping Draenei Male to Blood Elf Male. In both folders, you will notice they have multiple folders in each of them, that both have similar names in each. One patch contains the textures and the other contains the animations. So, playable races would be located in 'Character' folder, so then I would look in there and find the 'BloodElf' folder. Once there, I find the 'Male' folder, and copy it. Make sure you get both folders from both MPQ's. Also, in the folder that contains the textures, there are hairstyles you'll need to get aswell.
Third step, you'll need to create a few folders separately on your desktop. First folder should be named 'Character', second one, that will be inside of 'Character', will be named 'Draenei', then finally, the third one that will be inside of 'Draenei' will be named 'Male'. Once that is all sorted out, get the textures and animation files of the Blood Elf Male, all in one the folder you created named 'Male'.
Fourth step, you're almost done, all you gotta do is rename all the files to their correct path, which is toward the Draenei Male. For this part, you may do it manually, but I am going to use Renamer4Mac. This program makes renaming files extremely faster. Use the Search & Replace option, the text that will be searched for is 'BloodElf' and the text that is replacing it will be 'Draenei'.
The last step! Now the last thing to do is create another folder, it must be named 'Patch-' and then a letter or number, I will be naming this folder 'Patch-B'. Place the 'Character' folder in the 'Patch-B' folder, or whatever 'Patch-' folder you named it. Then once everything is nice and snug altogether, we will use DropMPQ to compile the folder 'Patch-B', this should only take a moment, and once it is done it should create 'Patch-B.mpq' if you want, you can rename the extension to caps, MPQ.
Woot! You're finished! Place 'Patch-B.MPQ' in the 'Data' folder thats in your WoW folder, where you found the other MPQ files. Then launch WoW, and ta-da! Your Draenei is now a Blood Elf!
