When I open the patch-enUS.mpq file with MWS I only get an interface folder, nothing else.
When I open the patch-enUS.mpq file with MWS I only get an interface folder, nothing else.
I'm getting this aswell now.
Did another switch some day ago that worked fine though, but getting that same error.
I just tried doing it again, and it seems to happen when I remove all the text from Field 7 and 8 when doing Swift Orange Raptor into Swift Spectral Tiger.
It worked perfectly fine to save before I emptied Field 7 and 8 though.
Not only working for mounts!!

Ofc it doesn't ONLY work for mounts. Due to the fact that you're dealing with model Display IDs (which the models for the mounts revolve around) it's only common sense to register that every model has an ID? (rofl). Although stating this in the initial guide would have just confused the nublets.
Awesome guide made, easy to follow and memorize, been using it to change pets and mounts
Honostly I dont see the good/awesome/nice in mount swapping. No one else but you can see it, so whats the point of doing it? Just so that only YOU can think you look cool? I dont get it
It's been a while
I just pick this version of MWS, but nice guide.
got problem. Changeing tawny wind rider --- wyvern to ashes of alar -- all is ok except fact that when i am on ground moving wings moving as should be . And when i am in air -- they are moving fast as hell. I dont know maybe i need to change smth more or like creaturespeed file. All i changes for now are ID + name, changing f 6 f 7 dont help.

A perfectly straight forward and clear guide of how to change mounts and creatures. I sinserially thank you
for taking the time off and making this guide.

Thanks for the guide, I used it to make my Onyx Netherdrake into the X-51 Nether-Rocket X-TREME.
Sinnex, I'd give rep but you were a total dick to everyone instead of showing a tiny bit of patience. You can't expect that much from the average WoW player, ya know.
I also had the issue where I was getting a dbc editor error if I tried to make field 7 or 8 blank. Looks like you can leave those the same as long as you change field 6 for flying mounts. I changed 6 only and it worked for me. Now it says RocketMount - NetherDrakeBlack2, etc but still only shows the Rocket animations
Also, thanks to Loteeh for his tip on using Wowheads 3-D view to get the id rather than having to try to find it in the model viewer.
Thanks for the Guide! Used it to swap Swift Alliance Steed with Amani Bear, only Problem i have are those pesky little Cubes. Tried it with patch_engb-2 instead but it doesn't work. :/

I did my swap from enUS and got cubes as well. I'd already read your post, so I figured I'd take a shot in the dark and merely add an additional patch (with the same swap) from enUS-2 and lo and behold it worked.
patch-4 and -5 respectively, not that it'll matter.
Hopefully it'll work for you too, idolum.
