[Question] Tauren to Night elf. (Pictures)

Hey, I have a problem.

I downloaded the Tauren pack from the [Race edits] Every race-to-race conversion! thread.

I wanted to change my Tauren to a Night Elf. Here's what I did.

I cruised the 'net for WowME version 2.3.3.
I put the two files into the data folder named patch-6.mpq and patch7.mpq
Put the wowme and it's appropriate files into the World of Warcraft folder.
Opened wowme.cfg and put "patch-6.mpq and "patch-7.mpq on the first two lines.
Started the game through Wowme.exe
Pressed F8.
Logged in.


I found what seemed to be many hairstyles and faces crammed together. I still had Tauren skin on my neck,arms, and legs. I'm a giant among the people. I think it's stretched to the height of the tauren's model. I also have hooves.

Apparently I also hop on one foot, because when I walk I have one hoof following me when I walk. (I tried this out in-game to test the animations).


I have no idea what I did wrong. Could anyone help me out?


Also, another question. I'm in Winterspring so I can't test this out. Does this change ALL tauren in the game or just my model?

Get one of Merfed's race swaps, they're (near) perfect as far as I know. The texture bugs in the pic is just sloppy renaming.

The thread he downloaded the model swap from is actually Merfed's ones. I've been experimenting with these lately too and I'm having the same problem with the face model and from what I've read I have to make changes in a .dbc file then save that in another mpq to be loaded (still looking for info on that though).

What do you mean by sloppy renaming?

I've been looking in that for the past hour and from what I can tell you'd have to modify each tauren skin individually to a blood elf one otherwise some would look bad and others would look correct. This is what I've managed so far. There seems to be irreguarly placed rows in the .dbc file (not with the other tauren rows) for the pelvis/hair which also have to be changed, and then there's the whole face thing which is a bit more complicated to find the correct one to change. In the end it's just way too many rows to edit for me particuarly if I don't know what they mean (I have the ids for my current hair/fair skins etc but yeah). I think there's an easier way where you change the models themselves rather the associations.
