    [Question/Request] Remove weapons for creatures?

    Right, again I have trouble with my pack. This time my Tauren Catform model (I blatantly changed it from the horrible original to a Lion.m2), however since it's not a suppported player model, it shows the weapon when unsheathed, which make the poor little four-legged thing wield a huge S2 mace for example in it's right paw.

    Here's what I'm working on, but can't release yet I think due to that bug:


    Is there any way to use .dbc edits or exporting the model (and hopefully be able to export it back) so it doesn't show the weapon? Please, anyone who know, give me directions or just plain old help! I can't use the Nightelf model (or well I can but it's still the same model as Nightelf, I rather make the Catforms unique), and the original is nothing to speak of...

    This current Lion.m2 model is perfect in terms of looks, but...
    ...help?

    We had that once before, eh?

    So .. Open the file in a hexeditor. Go to 0x104 and fill it up with zeros until you reach 0x120. That may help.

    I dont know if it will work - it is 02 17 here..

    Thanks for helping. I've downloaded DBCUtil, XV132, CSVed, Notepad++ and DBCEditor... however, I'm not sure what file to open ^^; It is possible to open the Lion.m2 but I can't find the integers you're talking about, and in .dbc there's 'CreatureModelData.dbc', 'CreatureDisplayInfo.dbc' and so on.
    Not so sure which one I can edit.

    I have barely used and work with hex-editing so the basics are a bit tough...

    Hmm.. well. Just open Lion.m2 in Notepad++ or some other hex editor and go to the adress / offset 0x104. There should be some number. Most likely < 20h. Now just replace that number with 00h. And do that for all other offsets until you reach 0x120.

    (feels like such a big ****er but here goes)

    ...would you mind either send me a screenshot on how the hex-view of the Lion.m2 looks like or be incredibly and insanely kind and edit the Lion.m2 and send it to me somehow? (Credit will be duly noticed and added to my work of course)

    As it is now, I open the Lion.m2, I look for what you suggest I should change, but when you say 0x104, I only find numbers with for example |8e|00|50| etc. There's basically no integer with three digits that I can find in the document, and after I read up a bit, you say '0x' basically stands for 'hexadecimal'... I can't find that (I've seen it in .dbc files though, but not in the .m2 one). Also, when I'm not opening the Lion.m2 without hex-view in Notepad++ it's all jibberish AASCI.

    ...aaah anyway I'm a bit confused to sum it all up :s
    Feels like I'm trying something out of my league (which I am).

    I,m trying to help Andrige with the hex editing - I'm kinda of new to this also.

    I used XVI32 to open lion.m2

    I then used Go to in the address menu (Ctrl-G) and try to enter 0x104, which yields 0104.

    Am I using the right procedure to get to that address?

    0x104 and 0x120 are locations in the file.
    This is how it looks in Notepad++

    I circled the row and column headers, that add up to the final address number. Also I marked a fields from 0x104 to 0x120.
    (The example file used is completely unrelated)

    OH MY GOD IT ACTUALLY WORKED!

    I'm gonna release the update shortly, and the best thing about this change is that we don't need ModelEditFix.exe for it either, pro ^^
