Want to get into model editing (^^)

I really do. It looks like a lot of fun and I have extensive experience in editing many other computer games (started back in Worms Armageddon [lol], and all the way up to UT+ and the Grand Theft Auto series [was one of the people who worked on "Multi Theft Auto" -- the multiplayer plug in that allowed for san andreas and vice city to be played online with other people])

This is my first MMO that I've thought about editing, and I only want to do what will NOT get me banned.

    So I have a question.

What WILL get me banned? Can one edit the character models and get away with it? Is it ok?

I've seen many pvp videos of well known players who use edited models to look cooler (different druid shapeshift models, etc) and they've been doing it for a LONG time and still haven't been banned.

So can anyone tell me what's ok (moderately)? And I'll get my hands dirty with editing as soon as I know

gray area, but a general rule of thumb is that as long as you don't edit models to gain an advantage (such as changing herbs into flags, making the WSG flag gigantic in order to locate the flag runner more easily, campfire-->dark portal, etc), you shouldn't get banned. character swaps have probably the lowest ban risk imo.
    LOLI LOEV CAPS?????

Yea that's what I figured. I mean I see all kinds of mods that would quite obviously give you away (all those campfire -> bridge/lolportal mods), but I figured as long as it was only slightly asthetic, that I should be ok.

After all, if no one can tell I'm doing it -- how can I get banned ^^

Thanks. Looking over this forums, I just realized that what I ask gets asked quite often -- not a good way to make a first impression I suppose. But I'll let this be my introduction. You should see me around here quite a bit now, since WoW seems to be becoming my new editing project hehe.

You can't. But, as the guy before me said, a good rule of thumb is to make sure your edits don't give an advantage. I would stick with mount swaps, and if you make a noticeable model edit, make sure that you do it where no one can see you.
