    Attempting texture edits, I am a bit lost - could use a little help

    Before Cata I could do race-to-race and character to creature edits without too much trouble, so I'm not completely new to how edits work.

    I wanted to try my hand at editing some textures. Right now I want to do something small. For any of you people that know Hawke from Dragon Age 2, I want to do the red blood smear that goes across her nose :P

    I've backed up my files, and began working away at random. I found art.mpq had the human female face textures. I figured I'd need a file converter to work with, so I got a .blp to .png converter and I can now open them up on photoshop. Its a bit tedious because its a big list of textures, and they're in sections so after I edit one, I'll have to find one it matches up with, but I don't suppose there is an easy way out of it.

    Anyway, I've edited one out of every face to see if it'll work. I didn't actually draw the blood smear yet, I simply labeled them 1 though whatever just to test it out and see if it'll appear in game. I downloaded wowpatcher 4.1 and an mpq editor. I moved all of my edited .blp's into art.mpq, making them replace the original files.

    Now my problem is, on the faces I've edited, I'm getting this;

    The faces that I did not touch at all are still perfectly fine.

    keep in mind this isn't the actual blood smear that I want to make, these were just numbering. Just some writing on the left side of the face, below the eye

    Something is just not matching up. WoW isn't reading my edits, so Im getting the green face meaning the texture is missing. What am I doing wrong? My theory is that something is going wrong in the conversion process. Maybe my edits are missing some Blizzard signature or something.

    ps- I've also tried not replacing the original art.mpq thing and making a patch-4.mpq file with the edited .blp in it. As I figured, it had no affect. No edit, and no green face

    Problem will most likely be, that the login screen needs a specific type of BLP. I don't remember which one. Try this edit ingame and it might work. If it does, its just that problem. If its working ingame, you should force your converter to produce that specific type needed.
