Is the new model Editing safe for live?

I know all about the model edits being bannable and it has always been a risk but is it safe to use. Like the green fire patch. So on and so fourth. But is the new way more of a risk to use on live? The one where you make custom patches and such.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks

Basically, it will never be safe. Ever.

You always take a 50/50 chance when altering game files. There is no safe edit. Everything has a chance of getting you banned.

So do so at your own risk.

I've been doing it on live for a couple months now fine. I also know a few other guys on my server who do it as well and none of us have a problem. Follow the same rules as before, stick to your char and do not go trying to walk around old instances putting holes in walls and shit.

    uh.
Let me sum it up for you.
    - If you modify your client, (Your WoW.exe) it violates the T&C.
    - If you use a patch that modifies landscapes in an exploitive way, it's also bad. (Hell, any .adt edits can get you in trouble)
    - If you use a patch with a simple, client side modification such as a race change, theres nearly a 90% chance that you won't get caught, unless warden SOMEHOW checks the file and notices the different hex, model, etc

tl;dr. If it's a simple, non exploitive model-edit, your safe. Otherwise, anything else can pretty much be held against you. It's never a 50/50.
You need to know what files are safe to modify and what aren't, a GM is unable to check your client.

Hypnotoad is correct, and I'm not just saying that because of the strong hypnosis control... I would add that, based on my 'research', model edits that are passive and client side only, such as a race change via a custom MPQ are safer than say a live injection method, which edits live memory if I understand that correctly. I have seen some exploitive edits, such as making netherwing eggs into murmur, which is like 1000 times bigger (and thus easier to spot), but for whatever reason those kind of edits haven't been updated to work with 4.0 even, let alone 4.1. So basically, if you're not gaining an advantage over other players and you are not using an injection method, then I wouldn't worry about such edits, not that they are endorsed by blizzard, but if you don't mention them in game, I think you're safe.

    Hey guys,

Thanks to the TE for opening this Thread It's good to know that the new model edits are as "safe" as the old "dragmpg file into Data ordner and name it patch-z".

But my question is ... How do the new model edits work? I just did not get that "jump" from the "old version" of model editing to the new. I only knew that Blizz changed sth so that the old MPQ model edit files won't work anymore.

If someone could post me a decent guide to the new standard "safe" Model Edit which is explained good i would really apreciate it an +rep you over 9000 times

    Plsssss i need Goblin Shaman!

    Hope somebody can help me

    Greetings ray
