Red Nether Ray to Gnomish Flying Machine

Hi- I was wondering if anyone knew how to do this... I noticed that the flying machine without a pilot model is present in the game files, but the rider attachment point puts the player hanging from the bottom of the plane!

Is there a way to make the switch and also change the point where a rider is attached?
