4.0.1 Gear Swap- Hex Problem

I posted this in the initial Gear Swap thread, figured I would put it in its proper place:

I was curious as to where the new cache file would be, thank you for pointing that out.
However, I am a hex noob so can you shed some light on my dilemma:

I am trying to model change my Wrathful Gladiator's Redoubt (display info: 65581)

However I have input 65581 into a few Hex calculators and I keep getting: 1002d

I have tried searching for 2d10 and other combinations but to no avail. Any suggestions?

To clarify, I am looking for help on what to do with this 5 character hex number as I cannot locate the shield in the ADB file with this faulty info

Hey, the reason for the 5 digit hex code is that you can only write numbers up to 65535 with 4 digits. Since obviously 65581>65535 you need 5 digits, wich is actually six, couse you read it as: 01 00 2D. What you need to do with this is you change it the same way you did before so it will become 2D 00 01. Search for this in your items.adb file and now you can replace it with any other items.

I will use Forlorn Barrier as an example. Its display id is 61785, in hex thats 00 F1 59. Now if you change the order as you use to do you will get F1 59 00. Now all you need to do is replace 2d 00 01 with F1 59 00 and you changed the model of your shield!

Ok I followed the directions to the T and I still have not been able to even find the first piece.Maybe I am just retarded or I am using a wrong program maybe? downloaded the one from the other post XVI32. Anyways I am trying to remodel the tattered dreadmist robe which is display number 29792. When entered into the hex calculator i get 4 8B C0. So doing what you did with the last example, I take it it should now read as 04 8B C0. I tried this, I have tried every other combo and all i get is "string not found".

The problem is with your Hex Calculator. No matter how i count it, 29792 is 7460 which is read as 60 74. You probably entered 297920 into the calculator, and that coused the problem.

Dont forget, if the decimal number is below 65535, you should get a 4 digit number. Always.

your right i did enter it wrong, problem is 60 74 "string not found"
