The GM admires people who create models to use in games. I can't think of any other way to explain that..
For example: You make a car, and someone makes some new doors for it, and those doors look amazing. You would probably admire them for the effort they used in making those awesome doors. (lol, wtf am I talking about..I sound like a senile old man..)

Yeah you CAN get banned, i was one of the unfortunate ones... Was changing the Sons of Hodir reputation items to huge trees so you could find 'em easier... Didn't notice a patch came out, logged in with the model edit on and bam, ban forever got 6 months of life thanks to that tho, before i sent them a few emails and got my account back. (inb4 cool story bro)

it is illegal due to EULA Copyright infrightments & blizzard entertainments company laws. SO basicly 3 laws broken from touching the game files breaking the collisions is an easy way to check for model editors (if they abuse the world building to go "underground" in bgs etc, the server will detect it due to misleading collision informations.

Why we aren't banned yet? - Don't play retail with model edits unless it's like a weapon swap - and I only model edit for my private server I cba to ban myself.. But I might be weird XD

Okey, if we put it like this, if you are swapping simple models like races, weapons, armor or mounts you are safe if you don't invite GM's to your home and show them you are swapping models :P They don't care really, for me it just make me want to play, I can't play without model swapping, I can but not as fun really
For RP people it's just a great way to make the RP more fun and "realistic"
I think that Blizz should let us change the "little" things to make us play more, but yeah, when ppl use it to get ahead in the game ofc we wont be able to :P

i heard further patches can detect your client if it has model edit in it then prompt you to log out and remove it or face 7 day ban.

Model editing is against the rules, though they will close their eyes if you only do it to have more fun like weapon swaps etc... but there are people out there who use it to gank people or find items fast, win in bg's, etc etc. Those retards are the reason model editing is bannable in the first place, and probably one day they will go to far and ruin it for everyone. So please, use model editing for your own fun, you probably won't be banned, and don't use it to cheat. If u wanna have some unfair adventage use a bot or something.

Enough. He has gotten his answer and things are moving off-topic as things around here generally tend to do. Stay on topic or don't post at all, it's not useful for the conversation.
