Tauren Male > Nelf Female Hair Color Not Working?

I recently model edited my Tauren male to a female Night Elf. When I tried to change my hair I got disconnected whenever I hit accept. So I took out the Model Edit for a second and just matched the haircut name I wanted. It worked perfectly. But now whenever I try and change my hair color with the model edit or without so that it shows as a nelf it won't work. I have green hair and no matter how I edit it it won't work. Is it because female nelfs don't have horns and that the equiv on a tauren? How can I change my hair color?
