Completely Custom Login/Char Select Screens

So over the past 5 or so years I've played WoW, one of the things that I've always had an itching to do is create custom login/char select screen backgrounds. I have ideas for them as well the modeling and texturing capability necessary to produce something at least moderately complex at this point, but one thing isn't clear.

Do tools that allow one to set special points within an M2 (camera points, character stand point, lights, etc) currently exist, and how difficult are they to use? Additionally, are there any other tools that would be needed to complete such a task?

I haven't looked closely yet (currently busy at uni) but do any of those links include how to add the character attachment point (where your character stands) in each of these screens? Also, I'm assuming that the camera and lights are converted along with the rest of the model when going from MDX --> M2. Is this correct?

Camera and lights are converted, there is no tut about the attachment point imo, but you could also add it via ModIt.
