3.3.3 Spell Swap

In these last 4 days I have been trying to spell swap. Previously I used Glitchy's old program to spell swap. That does not work anymore.

I tried spell swapping manually by changing the spell animation value (5 rows before the spell name) That does work. However when I do that with the spell.dbc file from patch-engb-3.MPQ ( it wont accept it from the other patches) All the tooltips / spell description goes completely wacko.

No spell gets the proper tooltip. I tried just swapping a regular and unedited spell.dbc and the tooltips still went crazy.

I have an idea that unlike before the wow program utilizes more than one spell.dbc. Animations from one but tooltips from another.

I tried to find the tooltip values and place them in the spot they should be. But I can't seem to find the them. I have looked for a description of spell.dbc but wow.dev wiki only shows a confusing and possibly outdated description.

Please help me master spell swapping. I like to play my mage with all his spells animations looking coherent and most of all awsome. I would like to do that without messing up the tooltip / spell descriptions.

Hello again everybody.

I have found the answer to my problem. It was an error in converting the spell.dbc file. WoW doesn't use more than one spell.dbc file at once. My converter program changed the tooltips from string code to normal text. That was what went wrong.

I solved this by using the program Tallis (a DBC editor) which allowed me to change the file without messing up the string code. I can even change the tooltip descriptions now as long as there is a string for it.

I would like to thank the maker of Tallis and I hope that this thread will help other people who are also displeased with the appereance of their spells/abilities.

Man i used to model edit all the time ;P. Wish i still could. Can't get Mywarcraftstudio anymore though

You can find the programs I have used for model editing here on this site.
I have used Tallis, DBCutil and Mywarcraftstudio
I have also used the program ModIt to see the models with skin and animations (awsome program).

You can find these programs by searching on mmowned.

As for Mywarcraft studio. I have put my version out on mediafire. It still works for me
(just not to view m2 files) To view m2 use ModIt instead. Here is the link.
