    Model Swapping 1.12

    Hi Guys!

    I just wanna start this post by saying, yes. I don't really deserve to make a request post, been a member on this forum for almost 3 years and this is my first post, so yea.
    I'm playing on a private server trying to emulate a blizzlike vanilla, and the server is running patch 1.12.1.

    However, after spending roughly 3 hours googling, and searching and trying. I've gotten no closer to successfully doing a model swap. The pre existing ones either have broken links from being more then 3 years old. Or they simple don't match the right version, giving me a black screen at character select (and no model whatsoever ingame, without the ability to move.).

    So as a last attempt, I'm making this post. Not just for me, but for all the other poor suckers who're about to or have spent hours trying, but failing.
    If someone could either link to a working model swap guide for this patch, or working links for already made swaps, that would be fantastic. I just can't stand playing hunter when all the races who can roll that class are incredibly ugly, I just want a nice and wholesome BE to pewpew with, just like I had back in the days.

    Thanks.

    Model 'Swapping' can be done one of four ways, two of which regard ADT editing:

    1. MyWarcraftStudio - extracting the model from an existing .MPQ (patch) from the WoW/Data folder. Then renaming is accordingly.

    2. DBC Editing - accessing Database Caches via a piece of software such as DBC Editor OR converting to .csv and editing via Excel or some other cel-editing software, once there changing Display ID variables accordingly.

    3. Accessing an ADT's Data via a program such as Cryect's Tools 'Fileinfo.exe' and swapping treepaths, loading the data via 'Loadinfo.exe' (saving) before packing.

    4. Using a program to do exactly the same as above only with a piece of software called Taliis. Swapping treepaths within an ADT (relative to locations of models) accordingly.

    Below is a list of guides which can take you through this in detail, descending order:

    • MyWarcraftStudio Editing (Basics):

    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...l-editing.html
    {The above guide revolves entirely around MyWarcraftStudio Editing. Although it does focus on the necesarry techniques relative to Reskinning, the main focus here is switching models. Primary Learners or 'Noobs' may find this rather confusing, therefore, in relation to this topic, i rated this guide as 60% Noob-Friendly.}

    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...reskinner.html
    {Ah. The guide i used to learn how to re-texture. 100% pics makes this guide VERY easy to follow. The main focuses consist of BLP Converting and photoshop / paint editing. This guide also uses MyWarcraftStudio. 95% Noob-Friendly.}

    • Character -> <- Creature Swapping (Display ID Changing, DBC Editing):

    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...-creature.html

    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...haracters.html
    {This guide focuses on the exact same topic at the guide above, however, it does use a seperate technique (Converting to .CSV in order to edit in a program such as .Excell.) Both guides are brilliantly written - therefore, Learners will have to discover which one of the two suits them the most. 100% Awesome, 55% Noob-Friendly.}

    • Cryect’s Tools Guide (World Building):

    http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...cts-tools.html
    {Ok. The above guide redefines the word 'Awesome'. This EXTREMELY easy-to-understand, much desired guide of it's time is PERFECT for those learning to world-build via Cryect's Tools. 5% Noob-Friendly.}
