[question] DBC editing

I have been through two complete guides about DBC editing, and through both methods i have failed to do anything.

Whenever i type in my login info and go to the character screen, the game simply crashes.

I'm trying to do a felguard --> doom lord kazzak DBC edit, which i had done before, but i am very rusty. and the fact that wowmodelviewer is broken doesn't help me much either.(can anyone point me to a working one?)

Can anybody point me to a more recent guide on DBC editing, or tell me a way of how to do this swap without my game crashing? i know i'm doing something wrong, but i don't know what.

There was a "fan update" of the model viewer for LK but I forgot from where I got it...

but about the edit, there's is 5 possible skins for the Felguards, and most likely, 5 or more entries in the DBC to modify (28, I just checked), I can help u by saying that the model ID in the model Info 551 and skins are (FelGuardSkinBlack, FelGuardSkinBlue, FelGuardSkinYellow, FelGuardSkinReed and FelGuardSkinWhite).

for Kazzak, I couldn't find the model ID for it nor the textures :\
