i'm experienced with computers and have skinned/modelswapped in other games, and am interested in trying some out for WoW, but it looks to be far more complex than in the other games i've done. it looks doable and not overly complicated with all of the in-depth guides here, but still...
assuming that i'm not just another 12 year old that wants to make his character into sephiroth with two gorehowls and laser eyes, is armorswapping really as much of a pain as it seems? assuming 'leetness' but inexperience with this particular task, how long do you think it'd take me? doesn't seem like there's a way to do it that doesn't involve notepad-editting filepaths and all that crap for hours on end, based on Fault's epic two-part guide on how to armor swap. especially since i'm shoot for an eight-piece set.
all i want is to plop some netherwind on my mage. yeah, i'm one of like four people that like the way it looks. hell, i'd be satisfied just changing my spellblade/tomeofdestruction to a warstaff if swapping an entire eight-piece t2 set proves to be as time-consuming and tedious as it seems.
EDIT: after researching more, i've found this guide:
http://www.mmowned.com/forums/model-...ighlight=Guide. this seems waaaaaaaaaay easier than Fault's 40+ screenshot novel on how to edit armor the 'MPQ' way (excuse my poor attempt at using your lingo). would there be anything wrong with doing it this way? seems like you just ctrl+f your armor, allakazam it, convert the decimal into hex with the given site, then plop it into the itemcache backwards. one problem i foresee is that i plan to change my weapon, as well... i have the HWL spellblade + HWL tome of destruction, and would like to change it to the HWL warstaff. since i have an offhand, i'm afraid i'd end up holding a staff with a book in one hand or something... is this something i should worry about?
