quick question

Been interested in model editing for a while, so when I found this site, thought it was quite the blessing. Specifically, been interested in changing the models/skins on my Tauren druid's bear + cat form. Now, I don't want links to already premade skins, because truly, I'd like to learn this on my own.

I have read a couple of the how to posts, and seem to be running into conflictory information. Not sure if that's because recent patches have made these writeups obsolete, or if there's more than one way to 'skin a cat' and people just have different styles (pun intended). I have the latest MWCS, but need some help on the steps to modify the models and skins.

Anybody have a concise write up, on the steps I would need to do this. I know I'm asking a lot, but any chance I could bug some of the more experienced guys to explain why they're doing what they're doing, so I'm not just getting steps, but learning why and how.

If you check the guides in the Model Changing section, there is an updated one for BC.

The basic steps are easy - they haven't changed. There are just a few things different you need to do in order to get things to work.

Have you attempted anything? Do you know what you want to change them into? Are you planning on doing this via DBC editing or old school model changing?

Looking to change my tauren bear into a black worgen, and my cat form into a black gargoyle or gnoll of some sort.

Only been fooling around with the worgen so far. Tried following Chilli's tutorial from

But everytime I follow it, nothing happens to my bear model. Opening w/ the model program and everything.

I then read Kasper's guide, and that's where I am right now. I'm stuck understanding his last couple instructions.

Pretty much, just looking for some solid help learn how to do this on my own. I know people have done their own edits, but I'm excited about learning something new I can do with this game. Any and all help is so much appreciated, I'd love you all!
