Creating your own Display ID's??

Im wondering if you can convert a WMO to M2 (<---this I know you can) And create your own display ID for the M2 to create a Game Object.

Is this possible? I think it should be elsewise how did all the displayID's come to be to begin with, I know they didn't just magically appear.

You can do that but there will be no collision. Converting a WMO into a M2 is stupid. As far as I know, you can just create a new entry with a WMO in that dbc. It should load it. In 2.1.3 at least, there have been wmos in GameObjectDisplayInfo and they should be still in there. So WoW has no Problems with them.
