Skin editing problems

Alright, so i edited the skin of the Shield from Gruul last nite and when i was done i went to see how it looks. However, when i look at the character from a distance the shield is completely black , but when i zoom in most of the way the shield looks exactly how i wanted it to look. Is there a way to fix this, is it normal, or just that shield? plz help

eh, never seen or heard of this problem before... try converting it to BLP once again (from your skin you made *if* you saved it) then re-import the blp.

If that doesn't work, it might be your png file?
Try another skin with different colors and see if that does the same. If it does, then it might be something to do with that model.

Distance errors like that are usually a sign that the texture's mipmaps weren't created correctly. It's technical, but the short answer is to use a different blp converter tool. I recommend BLPConverter. It has the worst interface but it can handle anything::

I wholly disagree. I've made literally hundreds of custom BLPs using BLPConverter in just about every possible format (palettized/RGB, with and without alpha) with no problems whatsoever.

Sorry Troll i have very high respect for you but i disagree my experiences with BLPConverter WoWImage(.jar) only one that ive had luck to get working is TGAtoBLP2 and BLP2toTGA converter...

That's fine, man, I just want to make sure the OP is getting a fair assessment of the situation. BLPConverter works for everything I've tried it on. Which means it works. Luck doesn't have anything to do with it. You -do- need to know how to use command line applications, though. If you didn't know you'd have a hell of a time getting it to work, and thus it would be understandable to think the program didn't work or you weren't "lucky".
