I think what struck me the most is how both Banzboys and Reznik are absolutely obnoxious.

Not looking for attention, just want him to stop taking my work as I update my patch every week as this is bad for my server. The patch I have contains mechanics that crash your wow if you use the patch on any other server. Extracting files in the patch deletes the failsafe. If I keep updating my work and he keeps taking it and "remodeling" it I will get a way to stop him from doing it, otherwise I won't. I could simply demolish the users patches by overwriting existing content and scattering the edited files with long embedded names like for npc skins. This will make the process more difficult and more user friendly as this would be done through a launcher. I could also password protect the patches for the beta stages and give access to select few for the beta. I am putting 1 of these methods in effect in the next patch update and if he attempts to take the new builds then I will put the other 2 I have in mind into effect. This will make his process for taking my patches 5x longer and he will not even attempt it anymore as he will have to try to get past password protection, try to figure out the numeric for the skins and objects, and patch it all together himself. Right now its just and extract, reskin, patch thing for him since my skins are in the same patch as my custom models.

    TL;DR.

Want my opinion? Stop crying because released edits will get stolen or reused. If you can't live with that, don't release it. Saying "I don't know how he got my edit" is complete bull, someone you trusted has obviously passed it through to other people. Please close this more than useless thread.

What? Are you serious? Crashing the client via an MPQ depending on the server? I laughed a few seconds.

    > password protect stuff that is needed unencrypted at runtime
What? Are you serious? Also, when having it in a closed beta, these select testers are the weakness anyway.

Where are your patches published? What server are you doing this for? Is there a way to play this on your server "legit"?
Are you fining me with 15 USA currency as well, if I do something evil with your MPQs?

The server and patch db and dbc files have to match or else on character creation if you try creating a custom class combo it crashes.

Thats why they call it beta, only a few people are suppose to have the patch and terms of usage and copyright protect my patches.

I can fine people, but what good will it do but provoke people to steal from me even more.

I lol'd so hard at how much these people are QQ'ing over 'their work' .. It's like some one giving you something for free, and then you go and change stuff, and give it to other people, and that originally person starts crying..

Have I said to you that I love you lately?

But anyways, on topic. I still feel this post is "attention-whoring." Can we just get to an agreement that, even if your work might be stolen, it's good nontheless?

Be there a patch you don't want to be spread everywhere. In this case do NOT:
    A) Give a 'beta' access to people you don't trust (should be self-clear)
    B) Advertise your 'patch protection' which might be taken as a challenge by a few.
    C) Involve law speech, you are using Blizzard's files and Blizzard's game-engine to render them.
    This will just provoke people.

Model Editing scene is about doing amazing things and sharing them with others. In short, if you want it to be
private keep it private, but is fame is what you're after for, prepare for releasing your work or someone
else might do it for you. I, of course, do not encourage people to 'merge' patches like this or release others' work
but I know how things work and I know that if the releasing didn't happen here, it would happen elsewhere.

EnhRreezznniikk clearly has skills, but I don't really like the idea of merging others' patches. What comes to you
two (you know exactly who) flaming him, you are not really credible as there is a sense of jealousy in your posts.

Get over it. This is not business, this is art.

    But what else is new?
It seems that the majority of the people in the modelediting/worldbuilding scene nowadays are way too self-centered that they give no acknowledgement to newcomers. Even though he was just a newcomer to the forums, that's NO way to treat somebody by blaming them that they stole your (in one or two cases) shitty work.
This is part of the reason why I left MMOwned to begin with, but I saw this and I had to reply.
Grow the hell up, you two.
