[Swap] Easter Eggs > Full-size Disco Ball

Hey there, boys and girls. Earlier today, I was looking around Dolanaar for Easter eggs, complaining to my guildmates about how hard it was to find them. So, I decided to make it easier for myself, and you guys.

An hour and some quick work later, I had turned the Easter eggs into disco balls. With their constant motion, and disco lights on the floor, they're easy to see, even from a distance. The only downside? They also show false disco balls for the Tiny Colored Eggs (What do those bastards do, anyways?).

Below are some screen shots, and a link to download. Simply download and put in your Data folder. Feel free to tell me of any bugs you encounter, but I doubt there are any.

What's that, far up there and to my left?

    Why, it's a Disco Egg!

Good job, but watch out if you're using this. It may lead to a ban.

Sure thing, to the both of you. First, get MyWarcraftStudio, and WoWModelViewer.

In Studio, open common.MPQ. Go World > Generic > passivedoodads > eastereggs. You should see easteregg0x.m2 x being from one to five. Copy down the filepath.

Then, using Model Viewer, find the .m2 and .skin of the thing to replace it. Right-click the folder it's in, and select Extract. I used the disco ball, copying it five times and renaming them all to the relevant easteregg files. (I.E. easteregg01.m2 and easteregg0100.skin)

Once you've copied the file you're using to replace the eggs five times over and renamed them, it's time to put them in to the filepath of the eastereggs. Make some empty folders, and mimic the filepath that we saw earlier. World > Generic > passivedoodads > eastereggs.

Now that that's done and the files are in the eastereggs folder, we take one last trip to Studio. Click Pack, and 'Create New Archive'. Make sure to name it patch-#.MPQ, where # is whatever letter you want.

Go to where you put the World folder, and inside of it make a blank text file. It doesn't matter what's in it, as long as it's inside the World folder. Now, rightclick the white space in Studio, and click 'Import Folder'. Back to the World folder, and select the text file. Now you should have the World > Generic > passivedoodads > eastereggs filepath in Studio.

Click Pack, and go to 'Save and Close Archive'. And voila, you've made your own Easter egg model swap.

For example, you want to change them into lampposts. In Model Viewer, find the filepath of the lampposts you want to use. I'll use the Elwynn lamppost, at World >Azeroth >elwynn >passivedoodads >lamppost >lamppost.m2.

Open Studio now, and go through the MPQs until you find the matching m2. Mine was in common-2.MPQ. Rightclick the folder, mine being LAMPPOST, and click extract.

Now, we have a folder with LampPost.m2 and LampPost00.skin in it. But, if we pot those in an MPQ the way they're named now, it won't work. So, rename them easteregg01.m2 and easteregg0100.skin. But wait! There's still easteregg02-05 left. So, copy and paste the files 4 more times, and rename them to the matching easteregg files.

There, is that any better? Sorry I wasn't clear enough.
